A career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) are all excellent options for anyone interested in working in health care with no prior medical education.
CNAs, PCTs and BHTs are all essential roles in nearly every health care setting, including hospitals, home health care and long-term care facilities. You typically work directly with patients and residents to ensure their comfort and improve the quality of their stay.
Some responsibilities may include:
- Reposition patients in bed.
- Record patients' health statuses.
- Assist in health procedures.
- Follow nutrition plans and feed patients.
- Clean rooms, linen and bedding.
- Help residents engage in activities.
- Build relationships with residents and families.
- No prior education or experience is necessary to get hired for this important role in the medical field.
