FUNCTION
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible to assist the Payroll & Benefits Manager in collecting and processing of all payroll information necessary to ensure accurate recording and distribution of Runnings’ weekly payroll. This position will also be responsible to ensure eligible employees are offered and enrolled in the Runnings Supply, Inc. benefits that they have elected. This position is responsible for assuring the highest level of confidentiality and accuracy while performing job duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll:
- Support full life-cycle of the employee, including but not limited to onboarding, job changes, and terminations
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
- Process payroll weekly for hourly and salaried employees.
- Reconcile payroll prior to payment and confirm reports.
- Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
- Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance.
- Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll.
- Process accurate and timely quarterly and year-end reporting.
- Ensure that all tax deposits are made timely.
- Process manual checks as needed
- Compile and submit payroll deductions related check requests and payments.
- Maintain current knowledge of IRS regulations.
- Provide support, assistance and information to employees and departments in all aspects that relate to payroll.
- Apply applicable payroll regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
- Work closely with other finance staff to ensure that payroll data is correctly coded.
- Process paperwork to ensure eligible employee are enrolled in benefits that they have elected.
- Compiles and reconciles billing for employees benefits.
- Assist in resolving problems and inquiries with external benefit vendors.
- Prepare and generate required reports, for both payroll and benefit information.
- Prepare reports and work with vendors on Audits and compliance reports.
- Process invoices for payment for all vendors and insurance carriers related to benefits and retirement plans.
- Provide support, assistance and information to employees and departments in all aspects that relate to benefits.
- Any and all other duties as assigned by Manager.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- A post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related area strongly preferred.
- Previous employee benefit administration and payroll experience is required.
- Must have strong computer and word processing skills.
