Seasonal Staff Member
SUMMARY OF POSITION
General summary of position: Seasonal staff members will perform a variety of duties for the Electric, Water and Operations departments. This position performs various types of manual labor. Seasonal staff members will operate light equipment (including lawn mowers) and trucks. This position will begin in early June and conclude in late September.
Days/Hours: Generally Monday-Friday, 7:00AM - 3:30PM; up to 40 hours per week
Driver's License: Class D (or higher) is required for this position.
ELIGIBLITY FOR HIRE: Eligibility for hire will require the successful completion/passage of all pre-employment screening requirements which will include: a driving record and criminal history background check, drug screen, and reference check.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Perform manual to semi-skilled duties in the maintenance and repair of Marshall Municipal Utilities properties and projects.
2. Operate a variety of equipment associated with public works maintenance and repair such as: pickups, mowers, tractors, lawn seeding equipment, soil compactor, painting equipment and other related equipment.
3. Perform painting and other general maintenance duties on public buildings and facilities.
4. Safely operate a variety of hand tools and equipment.
5. Attendance is an essential function of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Minimum Qualifications
· Age 17+
· Valid MN Class D License
· One (1) year experience in operation of trucks and light equipment
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of facility maintenance.
· Knowledge and skill in the care and use of hand and power tools.
· Knowledge and skill in basic preventative maintenance and making repairs on equipment used in this position
· Ability to understand and perform maintenance activities, including mowing, lawn planting and restoration, watering, digging holes general summer maintenance.
· Ability to understand and perform electrical and water maintenance activities.
· Ability to operate in an efficient and safe manner all equipment and vehicles required for this position.
· Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
· Ability to communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with all personnel, outside agencies, and the public.

Performing the duties of this job require the use of equipment including but not limited to: pickups, mowers, tractors, lawn seeding equipment, soil compactor, painting equipment and other related equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk on uneven and rough terrain, paved and unpaved trails and sidewalks, as well as within the public rights of way. The employee is exposed to a wide range of outdoor weather conditions, occasionally working in extreme heat or cold weather.
This position is a temporary seasonal position. This will position will conclude at the end of the summer months.
