Agricultural Feed Mill Manager

General Job Statement:
The Feed Mill Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations in the feed mill. This includes making feed, supervising employees, scheduling daily activities and feed orders, ordering ingredients and supplies, overseeing maintenance, and maintaining a safe work environment. The manager is responsible for complying with company policies and all applicable laws and regulations. The manager will operate standard office equipment, feed manufacturing equipment, and computer automation equipment.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture feed in accordance with company practices and monitor the grinding and mixing process
  • Determine and prioritize feed needs based on barn and bin inventories and pre-set feed budgets
  • Schedule and dispatch feed deliveries in an efficient manner
  • Oversee feed mill employees including scheduling, training, and perfromance reviews
  • Order ingredients and supplies and rotate inventories as needed
  • Ensure the warehouse and feed mill are kept neat and orderly
  • Comply with all safety policies and ensure a safe working environment for all staff
  • Perform regular maintenance and housekeeping audits
  • Schedule preventative maintenance and promptly report maintenance issues
  • Prepare written reports as requested by management
  • Communicate with production supervisors and barn managers as needed
  • Keep accurate records including medicated feed lot numbers
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Comply with all SOPs, biosecurity standards, and other company policies
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  
Job Requirements:
  • A minimum of two years of experience in feed manufacturing
  • Knowledge of feed manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance
  • General computer skills
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs., climb ladders, and operate a pallet jack with 2,000 lbs. of material
  • Ability to operate a forklift and skidloader
  • Valid Driver’s License. CDL preferred
 
Work Schedule:
  • Full Time, 40+ hours per week. Overtime Available.
  • Hours will vary between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM Monday through Friday

Boerboom Ag Resources is a progressive, family-owned farm focused on the production of high quality, nutritious pork. Operations revolve around raising pigs from farrowing to market but also include corn, soybean, and rye production and feed milling. Boerboom Ag manages 9,500 sows and markets about 575,000 pigs annually.  Boerboom Ag employs about 50 people and works with 70 area farmers to contract grow pigs.
