Cultures on the Prairie
Description
On behalf of the Cultures on the Prairie Committee, we personally invite you and your staff to attend the Cultures on the Prairie event on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 8:30-3:30. Due to the pandemic, this year’s event will be held virtually.
During this event, you will experience the stories, history, and cultures throughout southwest Minnesota by listening and interacting with three select panels which will discuss the views from employers/workforce personnel, students and adults. These panels will highlight challenges, successes and opportunities as they relate to their specific culture. This will provide you and your staff the insight when hiring and serving all people of southwest Minnesota.
There will be time for table talk to discuss and reflect on topics surrounding diversity and race. Entertainment and presentations will be provided by SMSU student culture groups and our keynote speaker, Jessica Oaxaca, who is currently the District Director for Hennepin County Commissioner Chris LaTondresse.
We hope you will join us in learning more about the different cultures throughout southwest Minnesota. If you have any questions pertaining to this event, please contact Amanda Beckler at amanda.beckler@ci.marshall.mn.us or See Moua-Leske at see.moua-leske@marshall.k12.mn.us. Attached you will find the agenda and the flyer for the day. To register online for this event, visit http://bit.ly/CulturesonthePrairie or call the Marshall Community Services office at 507-537-6767. Space is limited so reserve your spot today!
