Director of Children’s Ministry

Living Word is a young and thriving church. It started in 2010, founded out of a deep conviction to the Bible, and now has over a thousand members.  We are based in Marshall, MN, which has a great history, a flourishing community life, and is a wonderful place to raise a family! Marshall offers many city amenities, while still having a small-town feel and great people.  Our church is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as the Director of Children's Ministry. Salary Range: $35,000 - $50,000 Annually, depending upon experience.

Schedule:  We are an employer that values a healthy work/life balance!  Typical working hours for this position would be Sunday through Thursday.  Any occasional work outside of regular hours is flexed during another part of the week.  

Keys to Success:

  • A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, with a passion for sharing that faith with children.
  • Prior experience working with children in a ministry, educational, or related setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Elementary Education.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A creative and innovative mindset, always seeking new ways to engage and connect with children.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of volunteers.
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance ministry efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging and purposeful programs and activities for children.
  • Lead and supervise a team of volunteers, inspiring them to make a difference in the lives of children.
  • Create a safe environment where children can learn, explore, and connect with God.
  • Teach and facilitate age-appropriate lessons, Bible studies, and discussions.
  • Organize and coordinate special events, such as Vacation Bible School, holiday programs, and activities.
  • Evaluate and select curriculum materials that align with the church's teachings and values.
  • Collaborate with other ministry leaders to foster an integrated approach to faith formation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, keeping them informed about their child's activities and growth.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and conferences to further enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant child protection policies and procedures.
