Southwest Minnesota Career Expo

Description

The Southwest Minnesota Career Expo is a highly interactive career information and exploration event for high school sophomores/juniors in the Minnesota West Carl Perkins Consortium. Hundreds of business, agency and education volunteers work together to provide this opportunity. Each year the number and type of interactive exhibits has expanded to better meet the needs of schools and students from the region.

The event will be held from 9:15am – 12:25pm on:
•September 26 at Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Worthington
•September 27 at Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall

Expo Details
•7am: Exhibitor Set-up
•9:15am – 12:25pm: Exhibits, Game Show, Campus Tours/Information
•12:25pm – 1pm: Event Tear-down

Expo Audience
•Thirty-four high schools in Minnesota West Carl Perkins Consortium
o1,000 students will be attending at Minnesota West – Worthington
o1,200 students will be attending at Southwest Minnesota State – Marshall
•Undecided college majors, Adult Basic Education participants and job seekers are also invited to visit the exhibit area.

Expo Activities
•Fast-paced 45-minute Career Game Show with interactive audience polling
•45-minute college tours and information
•70 minutes of interactive exhibits (80-100 at each site) with industry, college and agency staff available as resources for students. The interactive exhibits are also open to adults.
