The Southwestern Center for Independent Living (SWCIL) works to promote societal acceptance, inclusion, and equal access by empowering individuals with disabilities with IL resources and services. SWCIL is seeking a full-time Assistive Technology (AT) Specialist working in communities of Southwest Minnesota. This position works to promote societal acceptance, inclusion, and equal access by empowering individuals with disabilities with Independent Living resources and services.

Primary job functions include:  Identifying AT solutions that facilitate independence; provide AT demonstration, information and referral, and device loans; conduct access assessments; setup and take down of portable aluminum ramps. Requires travel within Southwest Minnesota.
 
Must be able to work independently, lift up to 50lbs, have reliable transportation, strong communication skills, and pass a background study. SWCIL has an equipment shop, truck, and trailer for preparing and setting up temporary ramps. SWCIL offers employee training opportunities on assistive technologies and access assessments. Desirable qualifications:  Experience with disabilities. Proficiency in adapting training approaches to match learning styles and needs. Associate’s or greater degree from an accredited college. Knowledge and proficiency with a variety of assistive technologies. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.

Wage & benefits:  $20 - $24 per hour starting wage based on experience and qualifications. Remote office and flexible hours options but must reside in SW MN to provide services in local communities.
