Behavioral Health Services Manager

At Avera, mission comes first, with over 300 locations in southwestern Minnesota, eastern South Dakota and surrounding states.

The manager will serve as a leader for the In-Patient Behavioral Health staff. Promote a professional practice environment that enables the multidisciplinary team members to continuously provide patient care excellence.  

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a champion, role model and mentor for all employees and colleagues.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs department functions and activities
  • Establishes goals, objectives, standards and regulations related to personnel, patients, medical staff, partner organizations and the public.
  • Promotes, articulates, and participates in Service Excellence initiatives
  • Creates, maintains, and promotes an environmental that encourages open communication.
  • Plans and develops new services to meet patient/community/organizational needs. 
  • Works with community and statewide partners/stakeholders/committees on various initiatives that improve behavioral health services or helps meet mental health needs of community.
  • Functions as a Registered Nurse in the Behavioral Health Unit, as needed on limited basis.
  • Contribute to a strong patient-focused and team-based culture

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a CCNE or NLN accredited school of nursing required or graduate of an accredited RN program and Master’s degree in psychiatric and mental health nursing or be qualified by education and experience in the care of the mentally ill
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience in clinical and administrative management of behavioral health services
  • Minnesota RN license required upon hire.
  • CPR required within 90 days of hire
  • CPI required within 4 months of hire
