Feed Mill Operator

The Feed Mill Operator is responsible for manufacturing feed in accordance with company standards. This includes receiving ingredients, mixing feed, and dispatching deliveries. The operator is also responsible for general maintenance and housekeeping duties.  The operator must ensure all feed mill tasks are performed safely and must comply with all company policies and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive bulk and bag ingredient deliveries
  • Weigh premixes and fill micro-table bins
  • Determine and prioritize feed needs based on barn and bin inventories and feed budgets
  • Manufacture feed in accordance with company practices and monitor the grinding and mixing process
  • Load bulk delivery trucks and dispatch deliveries in and efficient manner
  • Perform routine housekeeping and keep floors free from spills and debris
  • Ensure the warehouse is kept neat and orderly and rotate inventory as needed
  • Perform monthly ingredient inventory counts
  • Keep tools and equipment in proper working condition and store them properly
  • Perform light maintenance and promptly report larger maintenance issues to management
  • Follow all company standard operating procedures and biosecurity protocols
  • Follow all company safety policies
  • Keep accurate records of medicated feed made and lot numbers
  • Other duties as assigned by management
 
Job Requirements:
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn feed manufacturing equipment operation
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • General computer skills
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs., climb ladders, and operate a pallet jack with 2,000 lbs. of material
  • Ability to operate a forklift and skid loader
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive company vehicles
 
Work Schedule:
  • Full Time, 40+ hours per week. Overtime Available.
  • Hours will vary between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM Monday through Friday
