SUMMARY:MN - California Clean Cars Zoom Call
DESCRIPTION:Due to low turnout\, we are cancelling this Zoom call.\n\n\n\nJoin Scott Lambert with the Minnesota Auto Dealers Association will present on the topic below.\n\n\n\nThe Governor\, urged on by (primarily) environmental groups\, is pushing the Pollution Control Agency to impose "California Cars" via rulemaking. The crux of it is\, any new vehicle sold in MN would have to meet California certification in terms of air emissions with a particular focus on CO2. Here is a pre-pandemic story on the subject: https://www.mprnews.org/story/2020/02/20/rural-lawmakers-push-back-against-clean-cars-proposal\n\n \n\nHere some objections to the proposal:\n\n	In no way is Minnesota facing the same air quality concerns as California.\n	Dealers can not easily (or maybe in any way) generate the demand for Zero-emission vehicles\, at least at their current cost.\n	Even the PCA admits that the cost of all vehicles will increase as a result of this. The only dispute is how much.\n	This is a very aggressive\, sweeping policy change that should go through the Legislature. Rulemaking was simply not intended to be used for huge policy priorities such as this.\n\nRegistration is required to get Zoom info.
